Indicative computation for resident individuals below 60, FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27), including 4% cess and Section 87A rebate with marginal relief. Surcharge (income above ₹50L) and special-rate incomes (capital gains etc.) not included.

New regime slabs (FY 2025-26)

₹0–4L: nil · ₹4–8L: 5% · ₹8–12L: 10% · ₹12–16L: 15% · ₹16–20L: 20% · ₹20–24L: 25% · above ₹24L: 30%. With the ₹75,000 standard deduction and Section 87A rebate, salaried income up to ₹12.75 lakh pays zero tax in the new regime.

The old regime keeps lower exemption limits (₹2.5L) but allows deductions — 80C, 80D, HRA, home-loan interest. The break-even depends entirely on how much you actually claim, which is exactly what this calculator compares.
