- Zero Late Fees
- Correct Section & Rate Mapping
- Form 16/16A On Time
What is TDS Return?
Every business that deducts TDS — on salaries, contractor payments, rent, professional fees — must deposit it by the 7th of the next month and file quarterly returns (24Q for salaries, 26Q for residents, 27Q for non-residents). The penalty regime is unforgiving: ₹200 per day for late filing under 234E and penalties up to ₹1 lakh under 271H.
Taxwapsi manages the full TDS cycle: correct section and rate mapping (194C, 194J, 194I, 192 and more), monthly challan deposits, quarterly return preparation and FVU filing, and Form 16/16A generation from TRACES for your employees and vendors.
We also clean up the past — processing defaults, short-deduction notices, PAN errors and correction statements — so your TRACES profile stays default-free and your vendors' 26AS always reflects their credit.
Expert Pro Tip
Always verify vendor PANs before payment — an invalid PAN forces 20% TDS under Section 206AA, and PAN errors are the single biggest source of TRACES default notices and vendor disputes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the TDS return due dates?
Quarterly: 31 July (Q1), 31 October (Q2), 31 January (Q3) and 31 May (Q4). TDS deposit itself is due by the 7th of the following month (30 April for March). Late return filing costs ₹200/day under 234E, capped at the TDS amount.
Which return form applies to me?
24Q for TDS on salaries, 26Q for non-salary payments to residents (contractors, rent, professional fees), 27Q for payments to non-residents, and 26QB/26QC are challan-cum-statements for property purchase and high rent by individuals.
What are the common TDS rates?
Contractors 1% (individual)/2% (others) u/s 194C; professional fees 10% u/s 194J (2% for technical services); rent 10% u/s 194I (2% for plant/machinery); commission 2% u/s 194H; salaries at slab rates u/s 192. No/invalid PAN forces 20% u/s 206AA.
What is a short-deduction default?
TRACES compares your deducted rate against the prescribed rate per section — deducting 1% where 10% applied creates a default for the difference plus interest. Correct section mapping at data entry (our first step) prevents this.
When must Form 16/16A be issued?
Form 16 (salary) by 15 June after the financial year; Form 16A (non-salary) within 15 days of the return due date each quarter. Both must be generated from TRACES — manually created certificates are invalid.
We received a TRACES default notice. Can you fix it?
Yes — we analyse the justification report, identify the cause (PAN error, challan mismatch, short deduction, interest) and file a correction statement. Most defaults clear in one correction cycle.
Do individuals ever need to deduct TDS?
Yes — buying property over ₹50 lakh (1% u/s 194-IA via 26QB), paying rent over ₹50,000/month (u/s 194-IB), and payments to contractors/professionals over ₹50 lakh/year (194M). We handle these one-off filings too.
What is Section 206AB higher TDS?
Payments to vendors who haven't filed their ITRs (and have ₹50,000+ TDS) attract twice the normal rate. The compliance-check utility must be run on vendor PANs — included in our process.
